The New York Police Department confirmed to the site that the fan went after Seth during his time in the ring.

The fan left his seating section, jumped a metal barricade, and tacked Seth while he was walking up a ramp following a segment with Finn Baylor.

In a video that was shared on social media from another audience member, the fan was actually running full speed towards Seth, who immediately placed him in a headlock before referees and other WWE staff worked to separate them.

The fan was ultimately taken into custody at the arena and has been charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs (disrupting a live sporting event).

Seth, who is married to Becky Lynch, suffered swelling to his lip but refused medical attention at the scene.

“WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously,” a WWE spokesperson shared in a statement. “The individual who attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Seth and Becky recently welcomed their first child named Roux in December of 2020.
