This TikTok Video For Using Red Lipstick as Blusher Has Gone Viral

Hold your hand up if you used to be a little scared of blusher? For many of us (me included) we’d take a giant bronzer brush for a warm, just-back-from-Ibiza glow over a pop of twee pink any day.

Yep, sorry blusher but you were pretty uncool and untrendy. However, it looks as if the tide has well and truly turned and done a full-180 because everyone seems to be obsessed with blusher RN.

Not just any normal, sprinkle-on-the-cheek blusher though, suddenly our foreheads, chins and noses are a flush of rose too. Guess who we have to thank? Yep, it’s TikTok again.

The social media channel continues to be the encyclopaedia of beauty hacks with its latest viral video, a blush hack by an influencer called Lena getting seriously creative with her application techniques – and if you’re colour shy, you might want to look away now.

In the tutorial, Lena swipes a bright red Huda Beauty lipstick straight onto her bare skin (we won’t deny it, we do love a multitasking product). She places it opaquely on her cheeks, forehead and nose and blends it out with a dense buffing brush in a sight that looks as if she’s suffering from a severe fever.

But wait. Then she applies some cream contour, concealer and foundation as normal over the top, and with a touch of highlighter the end result is surprisingly peachy. We actually wait to give this a go.

It’s not just us that love this creative idea, the comments blew up as well with one user saying it “looks gorgeous” and another saying, “she makes it look so effortless.” However, many viewers re-interpreted the hack, with someone saying, “this looks like a tutorial for hiding sunburn” and another saying, “looks like she’s going for the sunburn look.”

It seems the flushed, faux sunburn look is very fashionable ATM (FYI, a real one is totally NOT cool, skin damage etc). So much so, that some people are even ditching the bronzer in favour of a solely blushed look.

Skipping bronzer is a great way to keep the makeup looking fresh and modern, even if you’re wearing a full coverage foundation! Why not give it a go?
