But actually, when I saw them on, it was hard to deny how flattering they were. My friends – one a size 10 and the other a size 16 – say the leggings are the most flattering investment they’ve made this year (and let’s be honest, what else is there to wear RN?).
If you follow fitness aficionados on Instagram, you’ll know the ones I’m talking about: the brightly-coloured leggings that create a rather pert posterior.
They’re by a little-known brand called GS1996, which specialises in outdoor wear. The secret to their flattering fit? They work by contouring your curves and streamlining your natural shape thanks to a special ‘wrinkling process’ for a ‘better push-up effect’, according to the brand. From what my mates tell me, it’s like wearing a push up thong inside your leggings. Sounds weird but somehow works.
The brand says the fitness leggings are ideal for women who do yoga, weight lifting, lunges, squats, cross training, running or anything that involves bending over. “The material is thick enough that you can not see through if you bend over, but not too thick that it becomes hot and uncomfortable,” they promise.
The feedback from Amazon shoppers has been mostly positive, with one impressed purchaser writing: “Looks great, feels great and lots of positive comments on the shape it sculpt.”
Another added: “I bought the mesh grey ones. They hugged my body nicely. There was definitely some lift and they’re comfortable.”
Others said that while the leggings were comfortable, they didn’t do much to enhance their shape: “The leggings fit really well but I wouldn’t say they did anything to make my bum look any better. They were really comfy and fit fine but haven’t done what I wanted them to do. Maybe I just need to stick to doing squats,” wrote one.
At GLAMOUR we think you should wear whatever the hell you want to work out in and of course, your derriere is perfect as it is but if you want a little extra ‘oomph’, these bad boys might just help you achieve it.
