Since rumors of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s divorce first began, every story reported that the split was totally amicable with “no bad blood” between the two stars as they smoothly navigate co-parenting. But it now seems that divorce detente may only be possible thanks to the fact that the pair have reportedly completely stopped talking to each other.
A source told Page Six that the pair haven’t been on speaking terms for quite some time. “Even before Kim filed for divorce, Kanye changed his numbers and said, ‘You can contact me through my security,’” they explained. “Despite this, she trusts him around the kids. He loves them and is seeing a lot of them. She leaves the house and he arrives and hangs out with the kids. They have an army of nannies so the transition is easy.”
The former couple spent months hashing out the details of their divorce before officially filing in February, figuring out how to divvy up their finances, property, and custody of their four kids. According to the source, despite the pair’s billion-dollar fortunes, money matters were easily dealt with thanks to their prenups. “It was an easy case of ‘You keep your money and I’ll keep mine,’” they explained. When it came to their Hidden Hills mansion, however, things got a little more complicated. “Kim owns all the land around the house, but Kanye had bought the house himself, then they split the cost of the renovations. Kim fought to keep the place because it is their children’s home, and she won,” the source said. “Kanye of course has his ranch in Wyoming, but he has recently been in LA recording and working so he comes to visit the kids regularly. But she’s not shuttling the kids up to Wyoming and back.”
It was previously reported that while Kim “needed to end the marriage for the sake of her kids and her own sanity,” she would never keep the children from seeing their father. Following the filing, a source explained that, “North has some understanding of what’s going on, but mostly the kids have always seen them apart so it isn’t super surprising” Another insider added, “Kim expressed to [the kids] that she loves their Dad but they need to be apart. They don’t fully understand what’s going on and are already used to the situation.” Kim is also “definitely sad, but she feels confident in her decision…She’s already felt like she’s been divorced for months now. It’s been a long time coming and she feels relieved to be able to finally move on.”
