The Wrong Girl star took to Instagram with a beautiful photo of the sunset in honour of her beloved mother.
“Mum, I feel you everywhere and I miss you everyday,” she captioned the post.
Marais’ Packed to the Rafters co-star Hugh Sheridan confirmed the sad news that her mother had passed in August last year.
“I’m grieving for my dearest and sweetest friend who’s now lost both of her parents far too young,” Sheridan wrote in an Instagram tribute to Marais, 35.
Sheridan posted a slideshow of black-and-white images with Marais, and offered some kind words for his longtime friend.
“This is for my best friend, we go back to when we were babies starting at University of NSW, literally living on an oily rag and sharing our lunches, struggling but always laughing, living in our imagination on the buses and trains of Sydney,” he said.
“We’ve helped each other through our lives changing in so many ways. Our wins and highs met extreme lows sometimes, but we always made it through. I can’t tell you how s–t I feel knowing I can’t hug you right now. To have distance between us when I want to be with you.”
A couple of days earlier, Marias happened to share a sweet throwback with her mother and sister Clara.
Marais was raised by her mother after her father, Tony, died from an unexpected heart attack when she was nine years old. He was returning from a family picnic at the time.
The actress shares daughter Scout with her ex-fiancé and Packed to the Rafters co-star James Stewart.
