Amanda Gorman has been having one amazing week and it looks like things are continuing to get better. Many opportunities have been coming her way left and right. Now it looks like she’ll be present during the upcoming Super Bowl.
According to NBC News, Amanda will perform an original poem before the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers face off during Super Bowl LV. Her poem will honor the heroes that the NFL has enlisted as honorary captains for their service throughout the pandemic.
NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell announced that Trimaine Davis, an educator, Suzie Dorner, a nurse, and James Martin, a Marine veteran have all been tapped to represent the league’s message of “it takes all of us.”
Amanda spoke about the upcoming event and said, “Wow, so humbled! What’s most exciting for me isn’t just the placement of poetry at the forefront of the most-watched U.S. television broadcast, but that this poem will honor three heroes who have served their communities during the coronavirus pandemic. I can’t wait for the world to hear the stories of these inspiring people making a difference in trying times.”
She continued to point out that her opportunity to work with the NFL had been in the works prior to her performance at the inauguration.
Amanda added, “I also wanted to be the first to say that while it’s easy to say that this opportunity must’ve come from my inauguration fame, I’ve actually been talking with the Super Bowl team for weeks now, far prior to the invite to and the announcement of my participation in the inauguration. When I was called with the idea of honoring these three amazing change-makers, I was so touched by their altruism.”
Earlier this week, it was announced that Amanda has signed with IMG Models, who will be working with her on getting her brand endorsements and editorial opportunities.
